WWI USN Uniform, Jumper, Trousers, Flat HatUSS Arkansas Tally on Flat Hat
Electricians Mate 1st Class
Named to Sailor
WWI USN set, blue jumper, trousers and flat hat. All three items have sailor's name stenciled inside. Jumper is heavily faded, has about a one inch hole in left sleeve, moth holes on right front. Stains on the cape that look like rust stains. All buttons present on the cuffs. Has Electricians Mate 1st Class insignia which is much nicer than the jumper. Sailor's name under the cape and inside the lower hem. Trousers are much nicer, no moth holes, all buttons present. Trousers have the checkered blue and white lining of the World War One period. Sailors name inside on the pockets and the leg cuffs. Trousers' condition and color match the rank chevron, which makes one speculate that he received a promotion and new issue of trousers. The flat hat has a USS Arkansas tally, and shows lots of period wear on the leather sweat band. Sailor's name stenciled inside. No size tags on all three items. One can be assured who this uniform belonged to as his name is on all three pieces multiple times. A good potential for research.
Comes with three and one half pages of research on the USS Arkansas. The ship had a storied history. In 1914 at Vera Cruz with a landing force, the Mexican border and engaging subs crossing the Atlantic in World War One.
